Welcome to Allied Arts and Downtown

Live arts, sprawling gardens, and iconic ambiance
Adjacent to the stunning campus of Stanford University, Menlo Park‘s Downtown and Allied Arts Guild are home to spacious streets, high walk scores, live music, and several wonderful spots to enjoy alfresco bites and drinks. This storied oasis hosts art studios and eclectic boutiques, in addition to special events such as Mother’s Day Tea. Sometimes referred to as Stanford Park, no other suburban neighborhood can compete with the several nearby amenities, many of which are reachable on foot.

Cafe Wisteria is one of the Allied Arts Guild’s most iconic establishments known for their classical ambiance found on their three-and-a-half-acre site. A popular restaurant and event space, many weddings, birthdays, and other special gatherings are celebrated on their tranquil grounds. Their restaurant is known for California-inspired fares such as crab avocado eggs Benedict, Dungeness crabcakes, and a traditional, perfected California cobb salad. Other jolly evenings can be spent nearby at Left Bank Brasserie, a small and simple spot for southern French cuisine. Local beers and wines pair with French onion soup, steak fries, and escargot, among other seasonal specialties. For a more casual environment, try Bistro Vida. A vivid, red exterior greets patrons before they are treated to beef bourguignon, oysters, duck confit, and tuna tartare, among other popular brunch favorites. Low-key afternoons are enjoyed at The Refuge, known for hearty gastropub classics. Housemaid pastrami and hand-ground burgers are accompanied by an impressive beer menu spanning across many pages of their menu. Other local spirits and goods can be discovered at the Menlo Park Farmers’ Market taking place every Sunday year-round. A diverse variety of artisan items are waiting to be discovered, with extra remaining produce donated to help feed the homeless each week.

Another community event is the annual Downtown Block Party, looked forward to by all for years. Every summer, the streets of downtown are opened up to pedestrian traffic for all to gather, celebrate local businesses, and make memories to last a lifetime. Other old-fashioned, small-town fun is to be had during the annual Fourth of July Parade and Festival. After the midmorning parade, the celebration continues in Burgess Park with live music, carnival games, face painting, and food. During the cooler winter months, Holiday Faire at the Allied Arts Guild is a chance for locals to shop from over 100 of the region's finest businesses, all for an excellent cause. Toys, personalized ornaments, and other handmade decorations are just a few of the treasures to be discovered.

Menlo Park City School District is home to some of the best-performing public schools in the region. Oak Knoll School is a highly rated campus. Oak Knoll staff has received coaching from Columbia University to teach the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project Curriculum to pass on to students of all ages. Critical thinking, analysis, and in-depth understanding are some skills taught to ensure a higher quality of overall education.
